The basenji can be a breed of shopping dog. It was selectively bred from stock that originated from central Africa. A lot of the major kennel clubs in the English-speaking world area the breed in the Hound Group—more especially, in the sighthound type. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale places the breed inside group five, spitz as well as primitive types, and also the United Kennel Clb (US) places the breed in the Sighthound & Pariah Group.
The basenji dog produces an unusual yodel-like sound generally called a barroo, car without any unusually shaped larynx. This trait also provides each Basenji the nickname “barkless puppy.
