shetland sheepdog
The shetland sheepdog often known as the Sheltie, is usually a breed of herding canine. Less favored nicknames are classified as the Toy Collie along with the Miniature Collie. These are small dogs, and come in many different colors, such because sable, tri-color, along with blue merle. These are very intelligent, music, excitable, energetic dogs who are always willing to please and perform hard. They are partly produced from dogs used within the Shetland Isles with regard to herding small lambs or, just because likely, for chasing lambs and birds out of your crofter’s gardens, along with several really small or toy breeds like the King Charles Spaniel (not being confused with the more modern Cavalier Double Charles Spaniel), this Pomeranian, and this now extinct Yakki Canine. The breed was formally recognized by The Kennel Golf club in 1909.

shelties
Proud and animated, the Shetland Sheepdog is a swift, light-footed runner and an agile, graceful jumper. Though on the small side, this breed has the heritage of an active herding dog and needs more exercise than many other smallish dogs.
More importantly, shelties need “mental exercise.” These bright dogs cannot just sit in the backyard and do nothing. To be happy and well-behaved, they require mental stimulation such as advanced obedience, agility, herding, or challenging games you play with them, even if it’s just fetching balls and finding hidden toys.
